The moon is full and mercury is in retrograde, but I heard an owl in the garden the other night. The cats and I are fine, thanks for asking. One or the other of them often sleeps with me. And how are you? The radio doesn’t ever play our favorite songs anymore and it’s very quiet here most of the time but that’s okay. I go for walks and meet friends for coffee and every day there’s something new but I’m fine. Thanks for asking. I read that copy of the Hound of the Baskervilles that I bought for you, and I can get everything I need at the grocery store. I even got new curtains for the bedroom so the light will be warmer this winter. I remember to floss and take my vitamins most days so I’m fine, really. I’ve gotten rid of all those pesky weeds in the garden and Tom came to help me take care of those left over roots from the old apple tree that came out. I’ve been sketching a leaf a day and I’ve gone back to work. It’s so good to be with kids. I consolidated the bank accounts and paid all the bills and voted and I took care of the DMV and gave away one of your guitars and your mandolin. I’m getting pretty good at cooking for myself and keeping up with the laundry and the housecleaning. I’ve kept in touch with your sister and you cousins and your best friend from high school. (I’ll give him your John Stanley book and your Bob Wilkins tee shirt when I see him.) I even aired out the blankets for winter. I gave away most of your clothes, but I can’t seem to part with your glasses or your boots, or those funny dress up shoes that used to squeak when you wore them. You understand. People keep telling me I can talk to you any time I want. They don’t seem to understand though. Your side of the conversation was always the best part. Instead, I write to you like I used to do any time I was away. You were always waiting at baggage claim in the same spot every time and I was always so happy to get back home with you. I’ll start traveling again as soon as I find the perfect cat sitter. I guess that’s it for now. I’ll go to the farmers’ market today, have lunch with a friend, and stop by the library. I’m fine. Thanks for asking. How are you?
Thanks for Asking
